Amalgam has created a limited collection of McLaren’s ML39 Formula 1 racecars. The 1:8-scale models are limited to 99 models per driver and cost £8 995, or R203 721 at the current Rand-Pound exchange rate. The full-size replica wheel is also limited to 99 units, and is priced at £6 995 (or R158 424), while the smaller 1:18-scale model comes with a £1 050 price tag (or R23 780).
All models are finished in the 2025 Australian Grand Prix livery, where Land Norris finished on pole and Oscar Piastri placed ninth. Amalgam used the original McLaren CAD data with race-accurate paint codes to ensure that each hand-built model is as authentic as possible. The 1:8-scale model took over 2 500 hours to develop, with each example taking more than 250 hours to build.
Said Sandy Copeman, Founder of Amalgam Collection, “McLaren’s performance in Melbourne set the tone for their 2025 campaign, and we’re proud to capture that moment across a full model collection. Whether at 1:8, 1:18 or full-size steering wheel scale, each piece reflects the technical brilliance and excitement of modern Formula 1.
“In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in collectors viewing cars as art investments, and most of our models are themselves created as limited-edition artworks, with only a very small number available. 2025 is shaping up to be an extraordinary year for McLaren, and owning one of these ultra-limited Amalgam pieces is like owning a piece of automotive art that commemorates a defining season.”
