Production ready Tesla Cybertruck shown in new videos
While these shots may not ignite debate in the car world the same way the original reveal of the futuristic bakkie did, the production ready Tesla Cybertruck has kept true to its concept as new videos reveal.
After a two year wait, the Cybertruck is almost ready to be launched into the market. Generally speaking; after bean counters and business suits normally get together and assess the viability of a concept for production, a great deal of things can typically change. This often leaves the production version of a remarkable concept depicted as a frail skeleton of what could have been. This time around Franz von Holzhausen and Ian Kettle, head of design and lead exterior designer have still managed to see their left field vision come to life as a production ready Tesla Cybertruck has been revealed in a walkaround video.
Originally expected to debut in late 2021, self-imposed deadlines within the tech giant have resulted in multiple delays. While Tesla hasn’t provided any details nor committed to any fixed dates for the production of this model, it is realistically expected to arrive in 2023. Despite its long journey, there is still more refinement to be done but we can see that the production ready Tesla Cybertruck is almost there.
From the details in the video, the example shown seems much smaller than the original concept that ex-Pretoria resident Elon Musk presented although rumours have circulated that the manufacturer may offer two sizes of the Cybertruck. The one pictured here being the smaller Ford Ranger/Toyota Hilux sized version while the original concept and potential XL version being more appropriately equipped to take on American offerings like the Ford F-150 or Chevrolet Silverado.
Proportionally it remains mostly the same although the front end may have gone under the knife to yield something a bit shorter with a larger windscreen. Conventional rims and off-road tyres are housed in all four corners of the Cybertruck while a single windscreen wiper mounted on the left A-pillar and traditional side mirrors on each side of the greenhouse make it almost familiar. More aerodynamic bumpers have also been employed at the front and no visible door handles are present but from this little snippet it is clear that the model is edging ever closer to being ready.
It caused a stir two years ago when it was revealed and it is not everybody’s cup of tea but revolutionary designs that have the ability to shape the future often are. We can only hope that the design retains its aesthetic and is not dumbed down for bureaucratic reasons.
