Mercedes-Maybach GLS based Brabus 900 given 662 kW treatment

If you’re a sucker for ‘ain’t no replacement for displacement’ the latest Brabus 900 should tickle your fancy. The latest GLS based SUV now pushes out 662 kW from a larger displaced V8 while exterior and interior upgrades give it as much bark as its bite.

The latest Brabus creation isn’t another high end German model with a new ECU paired with to an intake/exhaust upgrade with some bits of exterior carbon. This goes far beyond what most aftermarket tuning companies are willing to tinker with since the Brabus 900 has had its engine displacement increased from 4-litres to 4.5-litres while a pair of custom-made turbochargers increase boost pressure allowing the behemoth to crank out 900 hp (662 kW) – hence the name.Brabus 900

The mechanicals further include a modified intake and exhaust while the fuel system has been reworked too. The exhaust pipes allude to this modification neatly protruding from the diffuser with large rectangular tips. All of the sonorous V8 burbles are adjustable by the driver with active exhaust control. Brabus 900

To protect the powertrain from excessive strain, the German tuner has limited the Brabus 900 to 1,050 N.m only – but it is stated to be capable of more. All of the above is backed with a three-year, 100,000 km warranty which should instil peace of mind when launching this exuberant land yacht from robot-to-robot. Brabus 900

On the cosmetic front, new exterior carbon bits found around the Brabus 900 help mitigate lift at high speed, keeping the 24-inch forged Monoblock M wheels on slim tyres planted to the road. The radiator grille and exterior trim is finished in ominous Shadow Gray like the impactful wheels. The stance of the SUV is also improved with a 25 mm lowering compliments of air suspension. Brabus 900

Each Brabus 900 is built to order, which means buyers can spec theirs in an assortment of interior finishes. Pricing isn’t known yet but we can only imagine that since a GLS 600 costs a smidge over R3 M alone, the latest Brabus price tag will likely make eyes water.
