DS 7 facelift debuts as sophisticated French SUV centred around luxury

The DS 7 facelift retains all of the sophistication and luxury from before although the new French SUV has been subtly refined to keep it relevant over the course of its mid cycle-refresh.

This is only a mid-cycle update so don’t expect too many changes on the DS 7 facelift from before. What the French automaker has done is update the design, include more relevant technologies and a more powerful plug-in hybrid option.

Starting at the bottom with the PHEVs, the base spec receives a 165 kW powertrain which powers solely the front wheels. The two remaining options in the range are all-wheel-drive and can be had in either 221 kW or 265 kW flavour.

The most powerful option boasts DS Performance team development which includes 21-inch wheels, 380 mm brakes up front and revised suspension. It is no slouch either, with a sprint time to 100 km/h coming in only 5,6 seconds. Non PHEV derivatives can also be had for old fashioned or budget limited buyers. A 96 kW diesel or 96 kW petrol powertrain can accompany the sizable SUV in these scenarios.

The exterior has been fettled with an updated front end now fitted with revised headlights and DRLs which flank the grille. The headlights now employ LED matrix technology which offers significantly improved lighting for low-light driving scenarios. The DRLs are painted in the same colour as the bodywork and mimic the look of the stylish DS 4 subcompact.

The rear end of the DS 7 facelift has undergone some subtle changes with the DS Automobiles lettering now featuring between the taillights. Alloy wheels are available in new designs with sizes varying from 18-inch to 21-inch. An optional dark exterior package can also be specified which does exactly as the name says.

On the inside, a standard 12-inch display is mounted on the centre console which comes with a new infotainment system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality, and a night vision system.

There is still no confirmation that we will receive DS models although Citroën SA have voiced their hopes to do so in the future.
