Defender Works V8 Trophy II limited run model is a Land Rover tribute

If you look deeper into the camouflage of the Defender Works V8 Trophy, you will find the silhouettes of 23 locations that have been part of Land Rover expeditions over the past 70 years.

The Land Rover Classic team will source Defender models from 2012-2016, strip them down to bare components and rebuild them to a production standard with a few tasteful modifications. Customers can choose from a limited run of 25 Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II in either the 90 or 110 body style with a limited number of five 110 Double Cab bakkies converted to the heritage model.

The model will be powered by a 5,0-litre V8 petrol motor that is good for 298 kW and 515 N.m and powers all wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Along with the visible exterior upgrades, the Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II will also be equipped with uprated suspension, steering enhancements and uprated brakes to cope with its intended adventuring purpose.

The Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II has most notably gone under a complete makeover as the exterior includes new components and a fresh lick of paint. A distinctive Fuji White and Narvik Black exterior design is complemented with a satin black bonnet and black exterior detailing. Honouring the seven decades of forging onto unknown paths, each vehicle will have a unique camouflage representing 23 locations the 4×4 icon has tackled in this time. This includes places from The Camel Trophy, The First Overland, and the G4 Challenge with a few Land Rover silhouettes hidden within the symbols. We can even spot the outline of South Africa on the facade.

On the less superficial side of things, the Land Rover Classic team will equip these all-terrain models with a front A-frame with integrated winch, powerful full-width LED light bar mounted atop the front windscreen, rock sliders, expedition exterior roll cage and rear recovery point.

The inside boasts modernised tech with a Land Rover Classic Infotainment system that comes with mobile device connectivity. Front row seating is compliments of two-tone Recaro Windsor Leather sports seats with the aesthetics continued on the dashboard and other trim. An Elliot Brown clock mounted within the cabin echoes the camouflage from the exterior while the watchmaker will be releasing 1 000 Limited Edition watches inspired by the Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II – customers will receive one with the purchase of their vehicle.

As well as taking delivery of a highly collectible vehicle, our owners will have the unique opportunity to put theirs to the ultimate test in a bespoke Land Rover Trophy event.”

In addition to the physical updates, customers are invited to take part in the second exclusive three-day Land Rover Trophy competition with one team walking away with a grand prize. Prices for the Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II project start from £225 000 (around R4,5 million) depending on body style. That is the cost for a limited edition labour of love!
