Gunther Werks create a 522 kW air-cooled 911 titled Project Tornado
Cars, cars and more cars. This is the result of the Monterey Car Week and the dozens of automotive debuts that it yields. Part of the flood of content from the event is the Gunther Werks, carbon-bodied Project Tornado which is more powerful than the new GT3 RS.
There never seems to be a shortage of tastefully modified Porsche models coming to fruition and the most recent we get to feast our eyes on is this Gunter Werks Project Tornado which uses a 993-generation 911 as a foundation for its lunacy.

Less weight and more power are the most notable updates to the model which can now churn out some serious power. Propelling the bright orange coupe forward is a twin-turbocharged 4,0-litre V8 and while it may not be the configuration of the original, it is air-cooled – paying homage to the 993-generation being the final Porsche 911 to make use of this technology.
What this does mean though is that normal driving has an impressive output of 447 kW but a track mode pushes this all the way up to 522 kW. To appease the purists that may be unhappy with the engine swap, Gunther Werks have coupled the motor to six-speed manual transmission.
It has also shed unnecessary weight with the entire body being moulded out of carbon-fibre now. This alone removes 226 kg from its overall weight despite the considerable widebody kit which lines the extremities of the car and include rear fender mounted ram-air intakes.
Contrasting the orange finish are gun-metal Fuchs style five-spoke wheels. Gunther Werks have employed similar minimal updates to the interior with Alcantara lining the dash and parts of the bucket-seats while a smartphone or tablet can be mounted to play preferred media in front of an induction charging base. Gunther Werks can also commission the Project Tornado in a touring package which is slightly more usable with more comfortable seats and a frunk. Pricing on the model hasn’t been announced but expect it to be well over R10 million. Get a closer look at the model here.
