V12 Vantage Roadster the last of its kind and will be limited to 249 units 

Change is upon Aston Martin as the latest introduction into their portfolio will be the last of its kind. This V12 Vantage Roadster is the final of the V12 Vantages and it comes with a drop top and 515 kW of fossil fuel powered infamy.

Debuting at Pebble Beach over the weekend, the V12 Vantage Roadster will provide one last 12 cylinder swansong for 249 Aston Martin customers.

Under the bonnet is the sizable 5,2-litre V12 borrowed from the hardtop version. A pair of twin-turbochargers mean that the car is capable of 515 kW and 753 N.m which is converted into propulsion via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission placed towards the rear of the car making it a transaxle.

Despite the extra weight to handle the structural integrity of its foldable roof, the V12 Vantage Roadster can get to 100 km/h in as little as 3,5 seconds and continues onto a top speed of 322 km/h – although we wouldn’t recommend doing this with the top down. 

Changes to the standard model other than the obvious lack of roofing are tuned adaptive dampers and the removal of the rear wing from its hardtop counterpart, this can be specified as an option if desired by customers but it may detract from the grand-touring aesthetic of the model.

Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer Orberto Fedeli stated: “We have worked extremely hard to ensure the V12 Vantage Roadster possesses the same potency and dynamism that characterises the V12 Vantage Coupe while surpassing it in terms of raw sensory excitement that you only achieve with roof-down driving.”

Most importantly, the latest model is a great leap forward from its predecessor. Fedeli added: “With more power and torque than any Vantage Roadster before it, a wide-track chassis with precisely tuned suspension calibration, and up to ten times the downforce of the series production Vantage Roadster, this is a breath-taking machine created for our most enthusiastic customers.”

Any prospective buyers will be distraught to learn that the new Aston Martin has already reserved each of the 249 units for customers with production beginning in Q3 of 2022 and deliveries expected as soon as the end of the year. Unfortunately, none will be making their way to our roads according to Aston Martin South Africa.
