662 kW in a bakkie? This is the Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition

Brabus, the high-performance aftermarket tuning company has done it again. Producing a brawny-looking, heavily tuned Mercedes-AMG G63 pickup that pumps out enormous power. This is the Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition.

Packing a Brabus-powered twin turbo-charged 4,5-litre V8 engine under the bulging bonnet, the tuner has increased displacement from 4,0-litres. The P 900 generates 662 kW of power, 235 kW more than the stock SUV. This rocket also induces 1 250 N.m of torque, and that power is sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission which can be switched to manual mode with steering wheel-mounted paddles shifters.

The design of the Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition is rooted from the Brabus XLP which is a transformed version of the Mercedes-AMG G63. The design of the P 900 still has a feel of the AMG G63 but with a cargo bed. According to Brabus, this vehicle was developed to expand and enhance their signature Rocket design language while maintaining the Brabus typical 1-Second-Wow factor elegance in every detail, this is clearly displayed in the whole muscular body of the P 900. Brabus added a ‘PowerView’ hood that will immediately catch your eye, a front spoiler made from prepreg exposed carbon fibre, red ambient lights integrated into the carbon front grille to give the P 900 Rocket Edition an extra aggressive look, 24-inch BRABUS Monoblock Z “Platinum Edition” Aero-Disc forged wheels as well as a high-performance valve-controlled sports exhaust system, designed to produce “earth-shattering” sounds.

Brabus continued to add more detail in the interior as they did on the exterior, with a handcrafted interior design refined down to every last detail. Featuring Rocket Red accents and black leather with a Seashell Diamond quilting pattern, more attention to detail is displayed through a “Heritage” brand pattern, which pays tribute to Brabus’ founding year – 1977. “Rocket Red” accents appear on more than 206 interior components, such as the handles, A/C vents, seat adjustment controls, speaker covers and the accelerator and brake pedals.

Despite the enormous weight of 2 720 kg, the Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3,7 seconds, which would give some high performance low-riding sports cars a run for their money. Brabus says the P 900 Rocket Edition has the ‘performance of a track-ready supercar’ mixed with the ‘strength of the Brabus XLP’. Sadly the P 900 Rocket Edition will be limited to only 10 examples but this also means more exclusivity for buyers.
