2023 BMW 3 series LCI specs and pricing
Today Car Magazine is attending the launch of the new 2023 BMW X1. Alongside specs and pricing for the new X1, here is a guide to understanding the new 2023 G20 generation 3 Series LCI.
Debuting in 1975, BMW’s 3 series is known as one of the firm’s greatest offerings that have seen a production life of over 45 years. The latest generation of the 3 series features a redesigned front end featuring a more aggressive presentation by way of gaping side air intakes, pronounced body lines and a domineering lower air intake. The exterior is punctuated by a slender brake lamp array and pronounced tailgate.
The Interior of the G20 generation 3 series showcases a new interior design that features a slew of amenities, such as BMW’s cured display utilizing the firm’s Operating system 8 to the toggle-oriented gear. The 3 series LCI range sees the inclusion of plug-in-hybrid variants of the 320, 330 and 330 xDrive subspecies. All 2023 3 Series LCI models are outfitted with BMW’s eight-step automatic transmission.
The G20 generation non-M 3 series LCI range consists of the following models:
- 318i. The 318i sedan serves as the entry-level model that consists of two subspecies namely: Sport Line( R760 000) and M Sport (R810 000). This model is powered by a 2,0-litre four-cylinder affording the stylish sedan with a power output of 115 kW from 4 500 r/min to 6 500 r/min and 250 N.m from 1 300r/min to 4 300r/min.
- 320i (petrol). The step up from the entry-level stablemate, the 320i sedan is offered in a petrol and diesel variant. The petrol variant features an asking price of R825 000 for its Sport Line trim, while the M Sport trim is priced at R875 000. The 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol power plant affords the sedan a power output of 135 kW from 5 000r/min to 6 500r/min and 300 N.m from 1 350r/min to 4 000r/min. Available in xDrive configuration.
- 320i (diesel). Priced higher than its petrol-powered sibling, the diesel variant of the 320i features an asking price of R875 000 for the Sport trim and R925 000 for the M Sport trim. Powered by a diesel motivator affording the diesel-powered sedan with an output of 140 kW from 4 000r/min and 400 N.m from 1 750r/min to 2 500r/min. Available in xDrive configuration.
- 330i. A step below the 3 series range’s M-badged models, the 330i is powered by a 2,0-litre four-cylinder with an output of 190 kW from 4 500r/min to 6 500r/min and 400 N.m from 1 550r/min to 4 400r/min. The 330i is only offered in the M Sport trim, which features an asking price of R945 000. Available in xDrive and diesel variants.

- M340i xDrive. Priced at R 1 325 000 is offered in two engine configurations. A twin-turbo 3,0-lite six-cylinder and four-cylinder producing 285 kW introduced available in full from 5 500 r/min to 6 500r/min and 500 N.m from 1 800r/min to 5 000r/min. The four and six-cylinder heat is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
- M3 Competition AWD. Endowed with a power output of 375 kW at 6250r/min and 650 N.m from 2 750r/min to 5 500r/min. The 3 series range topper is priced at R2 020 000.
The M 340i adds features such as M Sport Suspension, BMW’s xDrive with rear bias, an M Sprint function and many more. Visually the M badge 3 series is afforded a different set of wheels, bright red brake calipers and a sportier interior.
