Another day another Ford Ranger, this time its the Tremor derivative

Over the past several weeks, global branches of the Blue Oval have been adding tweaked derivatives of the Ford Ranger bakkie into their lineups. Europe has been the latest to receive a new XLT-based iteration; titled the Ford Ranger Tremor.

The Ranger Tremor has seismically arrived in Europe, using the XLT as a foundation for some bespoke add-ons to create a more appealing and rugged counterpart. The suspension has been borrowed from the Wildtrak X, which means it has a wider track and heightened ground clearance than the standard model. Looking closely at the images will reveal that the chunky tyres and added width mean that the bakkie has received new black-plastic fender arches.

In addition to the exterior aesthetic, Boulder Gray details litter the aesthetic and contrast the paintwork while a tubular sports bar lines the loading bin. Also included are aluminium side steps and twin front tow hooks giving the bakkie the demeanour of its more off-road capable Raptor sibling. Side steps have also been positioned on the lower extremities between the rear bumper and rear wheel. Inside, the bakkie has been equipped with vinyl along the seats and floor that is impervious to water.

Under the bonnet is the 2,0-litre turbodiesel inline-four that churns out 150 kW and 489 N.m. All of this is channelled to a full-time four-wheel drive system courtesy of Ford’s 10-speed automatic gearbox. Alongside this Tremor, the left-hand drive European market will also be receiving the Ranger Wildtrak X which made its debut in the Land Down Under last week as a toned-down version of the mighty Raptor.

The new addition to the already sizable lineup is expected to arrive on showroom floors in August although South Africa has no confirmation on whether the Ranger Tremor will be making its way to our shores.
