Mercedes-Benz all-new 2024 E-Class comes with selfie cam

The highly anticipated sixth-generation 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has finally been unveiled, and it’s packed with advanced technology and a sleek design that unmistakably bears the tri-pointed star.

This luxury sedan is set to continue its long-standing rivalry with the BMW 5 Series, and is launching just weeks before the unveiling of the G60 from Bavaria.

The new E-Class has an evolutionary design, with the taillights incorporating the Mercedes logo serving as a daring design detail. The car’s overall aesthetic borrows cues from its two siblings, the C-Class and S-Class, to create a cohesive look that is both elegant and timeless.

Inside, the E-Class has been transformed to mimic the EQE electric sedan, with a modern approach that is both luxurious and functional. The upper grades will come equipped with the MBUX Superscreen, a large infotainment system that sits between the digital dials behind the steering wheel and the third screen mounted in front of the passenger. The car also features a selfie camera and video camera, TikTok and Angry Birds compatibility, and a web browser – all for the passenger of course!

Over 30 streaming services are supported by the new E-Class, with more to be added during the car’s life cycle. The car’s flashy ambient lighting will be standard, and the fine leather upholstery will be reserved for the more expensive models. Gesture cameras and a dashcam mounted behind the rearview mirror will also be available at an additional cost.

The E-Class lineup has an impressive range of engine choices in Europe, including an E200 featuring a turbocharged 2,0-litre petrol engine that can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7,5 seconds and has a maximum top speed of 240 km/h. The E220d, powered by a 2,0-litre diesel engine, produces 145 kW of power and 440 N.m of torque, with a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 7,6 seconds and a maximum speed of 238 km/h.

No fewer than three plug-in hybrids will be available in Europe, promising up to 100 kilometres of electric range in the WLTP cycle. The E400e 4Matic can accelerate to 100 km/h in just 5,3 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. Mercedes will also launch a wagon later this year to take on the future G61 BMW 5 Series Touring, while high-performance AMG models are expected to arrive as early as 2024. Specs on those are yet to be confirmed.

The coupe and convertible are going to be replaced by a pair of CLE models, which will also serve as a substitute for the two-door C-Class variations. Overall, the new E-Class is a formidable contender in the midsize executive sedan market and one to watch out for.
