With a grand unveiling scheduled for the 7th of June, the EX30 is generating a buzz of excitement, as it promises to embody the very essence of Volvo Cars. A small, fully electric SUV designed to embrace the demands of the modern era while prioritizing safety and environmental responsibility is on its way.

Building on the impressive strides made by Volvo’s 2024 model year C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge EVs, the EX30 will elevate the sustainability game even further. Volvo aims to achieve a remarkable 25% reduction in lifecycle carbon emissions when compared to its electric counterparts.

While electric vehicles already possess the advantage of zero “tailpipe” emissions, the company recognizes that emissions from other sources, such as production and grid electricity, must also be addressed.

Volvo’s commitment to minimizing environmental impact is reflected in its meticulous approach to materials and construction. As the smallest vehicle in the Volvo lineup, the EX30 will be built using less steel and aluminium, which are major contributors to production-related carbon dioxide emissions.

Impressively, a significant proportion of the metals utilized will be recycled, with approximately 25% of the aluminium and 17% of the steel derived from recycled sources—a testament to Volvo’s dedication to sustainable practices.

But it doesn’t end there. The EX30 also showcases Volvo’s commitment to the innovative use of recycled materials. The vehicle boasts an impressive 17% recycled plastic incorporated into its interior components and bumpers, setting a new standard within the brand. Sustainable materials take centre stage, with elements such as flax, a wool blend containing 70% recycled polyester, and even denim trim sourced from repurposed jeans, contributing to the interior’s eco-friendly appeal.

Volvo’s determination to address energy consumption extends beyond the production process. The EX30 will be assembled in a factory powered by an abundance of climate-neutral energy, including 100% climate-neutral electricity, a significant step towards reducing the carbon footprint of the manufacturing phase. Demonstrating its commitment to a comprehensive approach, Volvo has also secured pledges from an impressive 95% of its Tier 1 suppliers to transition to 100% renewable energy usage by 2025.

As Volvo’s latest venture, the EX30 embodies the brand’s unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability. With its groundbreaking strides in reducing carbon emissions, the vehicle stands as a shining example of Volvo’s commitment to shaping the future of eco-friendly mobility. The EX30 promises not only a thrilling driving experience but also a greener, more sustainable path forward.
