Built on Renault’s new CMF-B LS platform, shared with models like the third-gen Sandero, Renault Captur, and the Clio, the upcoming Duster will be slightly longer owing to this updated platform. Additionally, this platform shift enables the Duster to venture into the era of electrification, offering a new hybrid powertrain choice. This hybrid option pairs a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and high-voltage starter generator, yielding an impressive system output of 103 kW.
Alternatively, there’s a second engine option, a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine generating 96 kW, paired with a 48V mild hybrid electric motor. Available in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, power is directed through a 6-speed gearbox.
Retaining its off-road capabilities, the upcoming Duster, especially the 4×4 models, boasts Terrain Control with five driving modes catering to various terrains like Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road, Eco and Auto, which automatically redistributes power to the front and rear axles, based on grip and speed. Notably, it offers a ground clearance of 217 mm and approach/departure angles of 31 and 36 degrees, respectively.
Regarding its exterior design, the third-gen Duster draws inspiration from the Dacia Bigster concept that we first saw in 2021, showcasing added plastic body cladding and sturdier skid plates, highlighting its rugged appeal. Sporting a “Y” motif for the lights and integrated rear door handles within the C-pillars, the Duster also emphasises eco-friendliness—approximately 20% of its plastics are recycled, with new materials like Starkle employed for many exterior trim panels, which are paint-free and consist of 20% reused polypropylene.

Stepping inside, the SUV boasts a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Noteworthy features include four illuminated USB ports, wireless smartphone charging, a 6-speaker sound system and what is said to be seamless smartphone connectivity.
Since its debut in 2010, the Renault Duster has been a market success. The third-generation Duster is anticipated to hit local markets around 2024 or early 2025, aligning with its legacy of delivering a compelling blend of performance, off-road prowess, and eco-conscious features.
