Under the metal, a 4,0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine delivers 298 kW of power and 442 N.m of torque—marking it as one of Theon’s most potent engines to date. Performance improvements were achieved through a new Hewland six-speed transmission, a Wavetrac Torsen limited-slip differential, and bespoke throttle bodies from Jenvey, enhancing power output by 5%.
Inside, the restored 911 boasts Theon Design’s latest aluminium upgrade package, focusing on interior details like door handles, the fuel cap, and gauge rings. The seats are upholstered in Muslin leather for the Recaro CS seats at the front and Theon touring seats at the rear, combined with woven Alcantara sections. Modern touches include a stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity, a six-speaker Focal audio system, and a wireless phone charger integrated into the centre console extension.
To optimise weight and rigidity, most of the car’s body panels were replaced with lightweight carbon fibre, resulting in a reduced weight of 1 169 kg. A strengthened body shell integrates a lightweight Mil-Spec wiring harness. The GBR002 is equipped with a full RS brake package for enhanced stopping power. Additionally, it features a switchable five-stage TracTive Active Controlled Electronics (ACE) damping system for adaptable handling. Modern dual air-conditioning compressors and an electric-power steering pump positioned at the front for improved weight distribution further elevate its performance.
Restomods like the GBR002 showcase a blend of classic design and modern technology, making them a significant aspect of the automotive industry’s evolution. By melding heritage with contemporary enhancements, these projects push boundaries, offering enthusiasts an exhilarating driving experience while honouring automotive history.
