Mahindra’s XUV 3X0 Replaces XUV300 but Not Confirmed for SA Yet

Replacing the XUV300, Mahindra’s XUV 3X0 has debuted sporting a significantly refreshed design. Despite being unconfirmed for the local market, there is a high possibility it eventually makes its way to South African shores.

The XUV 3XO has debuted as a bolder replacement to its XUV300 predecessor. The front end features a distinct grille, LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs) while the rear boasts infinity-style LED tail lamps which run the width of the SUV. On all four corners are 17-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels and a water-wading depth of 350 mm.

With safety at the top of the agenda, Mahindra has equipped the model with 35 standard safety features, including six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), Hill Hold Control (HHC), and all-wheel disc brakes. This attention to safety aims to meet the highest B-NCAP safety rating, ensuring comprehensive protection for all occupants. The safety package is further enhanced with a 360-degree surround-view system and blind-spot monitoring.

Performance-wise, the XUV 3XO comes with a selection of turbocharged engines. The 1.2-litre mStallion TGDi engine delivers 96 kW and 230 N.m of torque, while the 1.5-litre Turbo Diesel offers 86 kW and 300 N.m of torque. Both motors are available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed AISIN automatic transmission which Mahindra states provides a blend of performance and fuel efficiency. The petrol engine can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and offers a fuel efficiency of 4.9 L/100 km, according to ARAI certification.

Inside, the XUV 3XO offers a premium experience with a soft-touch leatherette dashboard and door trims, complementing its Ivory-colored interior. Mahindra states the SUV offers the best-in-class forward visibility of 23.7 degrees, matching that of the larger XUV 700. The dashboard features twin HD screens with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay which employs an ‘advanced’ Harman Kardon audio system. Other features include an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The large SkyroofTM enhances the driving experience by letting in more light and providing a feeling of spaciousness.

In India, the model will retail from under R170 000 however the outgoing XUV300 starts from R271 099 in Mzansi. Mahindra has been unable to confirm if the updated XUV 3X0 will be made available for South Africa but based on the wide range of the XUV300 in the local market, it is likely it will eventually arrive on our shores.
