Updated BMW 3 Series Quietly Breaks Cover with Raft of Changes

BMW has given its iconic 3 Series a fresh update for 2025, introducing a host of new design details, advanced technologies, and performance enhancements. Here’s a closer look at what to expect from the revamped model.

The 2025 BMW 3 Series sedan showcases a refreshed exterior with two new colour options: Arctic Race Blue metallic and Vegas Red metallic. For those seeking further personalization, BMW now offers Frozen Pure Grey metallic and Frozen Portimao Blue metallic under its Individual program. M Sport package-equipped models (standard on the M340i and optional on the 330i) feature stylish 19-inch M alloy wheels in double-spoke design, available in either bi-color or Jet Black. There’s also an option for Y-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels with a bi-color finish.

Inside, the updated 3 Series emphasizes a clean, tech-forward aesthetic. Drivers of the 330i will appreciate the new two-spoke steering wheel with a polygonal rim, while those opting for the M340i or 330i with the M Sport package get a sportier three-spoke, flat-bottomed M steering wheel. These new steering wheels come equipped with illuminated multifunction buttons and gearshift paddles.

Interior lighting now includes customizable cascade lighting around the new central vents, with nine selectable colours and various brightness levels. Additionally, the system features a Welcome and Goodbye Animation and light signals for incoming calls or open doors. The standard trim in the 330i is Fineline Light open-pored fine-wood, while the M340i boasts M Aluminum Rhombicle. Options include Ash Grey open-pored fine-wood, Aluminum Fine Brushed, and Carbon Fibre for the M340i.

Both engine options in the new 3 Series benefit from 48V mild hybrid technology. The 2.0-litre inline 4-cylinder engine in the 330i produces 190 kW and 400 N.m of torque, while the 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder engine in the M340i delivers an impressive 288 kW and 540 N.m of torque. The M340i’s powertrain, paired with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, propels the car from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, or 4.1 seconds with xDrive all-wheel drive. Both engines promise sharper power delivery and greater efficiency.

BMW has refined the 3 Series chassis for an even better blend of sportiness and comfort. The updates include a stiffer rear damper mounting, enhancing ride comfort without sacrificing the dynamic handling the 3 Series is known for. Steering effort in Comfort mode has also been reduced, making everyday driving easier.

The 2025 3 Series features the latest BMW iDrive with QuickSelect, based on BMW Operating System 8.5. This system offers an intuitive interface with a customizable home screen, enhanced navigation, and innovative digital services. The optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional adds a Head-Up Display and Augmented View function, overlaying navigation directions onto live video.

The new sedan also supports the Personal eSIM, allowing for 5G connectivity and data streaming via a WiFi hotspot, ensuring seamless integration into the user’s digital ecosystem. The My BMW App offers convenient remote functions, including sending destinations to the car’s navigation system and accessing the BMW ConnectedDrive Store for over-the-air upgrades.
