Jetour Auto was launched by the Chery Holding Group in 2018, responding to market trends and consumer demand for affordable, technologically equipped SUVs. Operating completely independently in the global market from the Chery conglomerate, Jetour proudly maintains its own dedicated R&D, manufacturing facilities, sales, and aftersales channels. Once it arrives in South Africa, it will maintain this independent operation as well.

In just five years, the firm claims it has sold over 1 180 000 vehicles globally across its five product lines, collaborating with over 1 200 partners in more than 60 countries and regions. The brand has achieved top rankings in several markets, underscoring its rapid growth and market penetration.
Johnny Fang, Managing Director of Jetour in South Africa, has ambitious plans for the brand’s local launch. He aims for sales of 800 units monthly within the first year, starting with the Jetour X70 Plus and Dashing models. Fang emphasizes that enhanced service quality and parts availability will be key priorities for the brand in South Africa.
“Our state-of-the-art parts warehouse in Kyalami, spanning 4 000 square meters and housing up to 82 000 parts, strengthens our commitment to customer satisfaction. We aim to provide customers with the parts they need, when they need them, with the efficiency and reliability they expect,” says Fang.
Globally, Jetour boasts over 27 years of accumulated experience and holds 26 000 patents. By integrating extensive data analytics and intelligent manufacturing equipment, Jetour aims to produce safer, more comfortable, intelligent, and eco-conscious vehicles.
Similar to other Chinese foundling automotive brands that haven’t opted for acronyms, the brand name Jetour combines “JET,” signifying sleek, fast, successful, and victorious, with “TOUR,” referencing the ethos of freedom and adventure. Both abroad and in the local market, the newcomer aspires to become synonymous with lifestyle and travel, backed by innovation, reliability, and sustainability.
“We are excited to mirror Jetour’s worldwide success in South Africa and become the top choice for travel vehicles among local customers,” says Fang. As it stands, it is unknown which models Jetour plans on bringing to South Africa but their global portfolio comprises the T2, Dashing, X70, X70 Plus and X90 Plus – all in different flavours of SUV.
