AC Cars serves as one of Britain’s oldest active car manufacturers since it first got cracking crafting automobiles in 1901. Now, it will debut an all-electric AC Ace Classic at the 2024 SEMA Show in the USA, with the help of Tremec Electric GT.
This isn’t the first foray into the electrified field; the Ace Classic electric arrives as a counterpart to the Ace Bristol Classic electric, which was developed at AC’s advanced facility on the UK’s south coast before heading to the US for final completion. This new model embodies the spirit of the legendary AC Ace, known as the precursor to the Cobra while bringing advanced electrification into the equation.

Speaking of which, the car’s high-performance powertrain is powered by Tremec’s eGT413 Modular EV platform, delivering 225 kW from a 72 kWh battery. While this isn’t mindblowing in the world of instantaneous acceleration and electrification, it will tip the scales at 1 134 kg which then promises some impressive power-to-weight ratio. The Ace will also be endowed with over 320 km of range per charge and the convenience of DC fast charging.
David Conza, CEO of AC Cars, shared his enthusiasm: “We are extremely excited to have Tremec as our electrified performance technologies partner for the new AC Ace Classic electric. Their expertise has been crucial in creating a car that both companies are immensely proud of.”
The low weight is achieved by modern materials and manufacturing techniques. Carbon fibre lines the bodywork but the interior doesn’t skimp on the original charm of AC, with hand-finished touches.

The AC Ace Classic features the open grille associated with later models, while the Ace Bristol Classic evokes the signature “smiling face” grille from the original 1953 launch. Both models showcase the graceful lines and iconic wheel arches that defined the classic Ace’s design, crafted using AC’s signature carbon fibre techniques.
Assembling these cars will be a transatlantic effort, with Tremec fitting the electric powertrain at its North American Manufacturing Facilities for US customers. Each car will carry an official AC chassis number, marking it as a true descendent of the historic Ace lineage.
AC Cars will unveil the AC Ace Classic electric and the AC Ace Bristol Classic electric at SEMA 2024 at Tremec’s booth (#21455) with deliveries earmarked for 2025. Priced from $275 000 (R4.8 million) before tax, with options for personalisation, these road-registered cars will be available in both left- and right-hand drive configurations for the US and UK markets.
