Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, also shared by the Ioniq 5 N, the RN24 is 340mm shorter due to a re-engineered battery pack, giving it a compact, rally-ready stance.

The RN24 pairs the Ioniq 5 N’s impressive 477 kW and 739 N.m dual-motor setup with a lighter chassis, inspired by the brand’s World Rally Championship efforts. It uses an 84 kWh battery pack, the same capacity as the Ioniq 5 N, and is engineered for an enhanced range of 447 km. Given the demands of the high-performance platform, Hyundai has also upgraded the RN24’s battery and motor cooling system for endurance and efficiency.

At an estimated weight of 1 880 kg, the RN24 is approximately 350 kg lighter than the Ioniq 5 N, achieved through extensive weight-saving measures. The concept has an exoskeleton-style roll cage and pared-down bodywork to remove unnecessary mass. Design details like the forged matte black 19-inch wheels come from the Elantra N, while a TCR-inspired rear spoiler maximizes downforce and stability.

The RN24 also introduces advanced WRC-derived software, enabling Rally Mode, which electronically simulates a four-wheel drive system inspired by Hyundai’s i20 N Rally1. This system manages torque distribution to each wheel, delivering agility and “rally car-level response” on various surfaces.

“This rolling lab is more than a test vehicle,” Hyundai stated, describing the RN24 as a platform for developing next-generation high-performance EVs. With features that streamline complex systems for better cost-efficiency, Hyundai hints at the RN24’s influence on upcoming production models.

Overall, the RN24 not only pushes Hyundai’s EV performance technology but aims to make such capabilities more accessible for everyday driving, signalling a bold shift toward electrified high-performance for the brand.
