Ineos Automotive, in partnership with retail partner LeTech GmbH & Co KG, has, quite literally, taken the Grenadier Station Wagon and Quartermaster’s off-road capabilities to new heights, with the British marque and German tuning company introducing a raised chassis, portal axles, offset wheel hubs, and larger off-road rubber that, together, have resulted in an increased ground clearance of a whopping 514 mm (up 250 mm on the standard cars).

However, that is not all, further enhancing the Station Wagon and its equally rugged double-cab bakkie sibling’s off-road prowess, these modifications have improved the cars’ water-wading capability — to an impressive 1 050 mm. That’s 250 mm more than the original models’ already commendable wading-depth rating of 800 mm.

A prototype version of a Quartermaster boasting these upgrades was shown at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. According to Ineos Automotive, the positive response towards the prototype was impossible to ignore, and, as such, it will, indeed, become available…“Soon,” the firm says. In addition, the automaker has mentioned that the portal-axle Grenadier already has real-world applications. Indeed, similarly modified vehicles were recently delivered to the fire brigade in Mühlheim an der Ruhr, Germany.

As a reminder, the Grenadier Station Wagon and Quartermaster, the latter of which proved immensely capable in the Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve at the local launch in July 2024, is available with the choice of two BMW-sourced, 3.0-litre inline-six engine options, both equipped with breathing apparatus in the shape of turbocharging.
