The new Lamborghini Urus SE completes this Italian brand’s mandate for an exclusively hybrid-powered modern product portfolio. Together with the flagship Revuelto hypercar and the forthcoming Temerario, the soon-to-be-lone Urus derivate features a 456 kW/800 N.m twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine supplemented by an electric motor housed between it and an eight-speed automatic transmission. A 25.9 kWh battery above the rear axle allows the SE to travel up to 60 km in all-electric mode, yet once toggled into one of its racier settings, a staggering 580 kW and 950 N.m of torque grants the Urus SE a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 3.4-seconds. Significantly, while the battery can be charged via a cable, the Urus SE features a Recharge driving mode that focuses on replenishing stored energy while driving.

Eleven available driving modes cater to everything from a racetrack to a gravel mountain pass with a longitudinal torque vectoring system able to send up to 100% of torque to the rear wheels when required. An e-Diff on the rear axle introduces lateral torque vectoring and rear-wheel steering improves all-around manoeuvrability.

Viewed as the more family-focused portfolio offering until an all-new “broadly usable” all-electric model is introduced at the beginning of the next decade; Lamborghini says it is most proud of the software it developed to ensure the Urus SE remains capable but also comfortable in everyday driving conditions. This includes a “softening” of the throttle response in all-electric driving mode to make the car better suited to tasks like the school run.

Speaking via an online call at the Urus SE’s local introduction, Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, revealed impressive company profits for the year to date but also that the majority of the (sold out for 2025) orders for the “two hearts” derivative are from customers seeking to upgrade their current Urus to the new more efficient version.
