Developed to pay homage to the Mustang’s achievements throughout the Blue Oval sports car’s 60-year history and America’s spirit of ingenuity and perseverance, Ford has unleashed a special-edition version of its apex Mustang. Meet the Mustang GTD Spirit of America…
To bring the Mustang GTD Spirit of America to life, Ford’s design department handed the standard Mustang GTD a ‘Performance White’ exterior paint scheme, replete with ‘Race Red’ and ‘Lightning Blue’ racing stripes, spanning the bonnet to the rear of the car. Exposed carbon-fibre finishes — notably for the Mustang GTD Spirit of America’s aerodynamic elements, including the front splitter, rear diffuser and large rear wing — are also present. The spoiler features ‘Race Red’ trim, while “Mustang” lettering can be found below the wing.

In addition, the Mustang GTD Spirit of America ships with the Mustang GTD Performance Package as standard. ‘Race Red’ brake callipers are included in the package, while customers have the option of specifying the side-mirror housings in the same vibrant hue or in exposed carbon fibre.
Stepping inside, the Mustang GTD Spirit of America features model-specific bucket seats. The pews are upholstered in Dinamica material and leather. “GTD” is embossed on the front items’ headrests. ‘Race Red’ trim inserts and ‘Victory Blue’ contrast stitching are also present. The steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters are available in titanium.
The fastest (internal combustion) American car to ever lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife (with a time of 6 minutes and 57.685 seconds), the Mustang GTD, which was developed alongside the race-ready Mustang GT3, employs a 5.2-litre supercharged V8, producing peak power and torque outputs of 600 kW and 900 N.m. The pinnacle Mustang boasts a top speed of 325 km/h.
