Ford Transit Custom Sport Launches in SA – Pricing & Spec
Ford South Africa has launched the Transit Custom Sport, a short-wheelbase van offering a fresh option for businesses and lifestyle-focused buyers, with enhanced features, performance upgrades and a sportier new look.

The Transit Custom Sport is a new addition to Ford South Africa’s light commercial vehicle range, and builds on the Ford Transit Custom, which was named 2024 International Van of the Year, and is currently Europe’s best-selling one-ton van. The Sport variant is aimed at owner-operators and businesses looking for a van with a more distinctive design and additional convenience features, that maintains the practicality and load-hauling capabilities of the Transit Custom.

The Transit Custom Sport distinguishes itself with a sport body kit, honeycomb grille, rear spoiler, and 17-inch matte black alloy wheels. Dual racing stripes and side decals further emphasize the unique styling. The van is also equipped with LED headlights, daytime running lights, and LED taillights. Inside, the new model features seats with blue accent stripes, piano black trim, and a 13-inch landscape touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 12-inch digital instrument cluster and multiple USB charging ports are also included. The cabin layout incorporates various storage compartments, and a tilting steering wheel is available as an option to enhance workspace versatility.

Moving the Transit Custom Sport is Ford’s 2.0-litre Single Turbo EcoBlue diesel engine which produces a healthy 125kW and 390Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The van includes five driving modes: Normal, Eco, Slippery, Tow/Haul, and Sport and has a payload capacity of up to 1,023kg and a maximum towing capacity of 2,500kg. Access to the load compartment is facilitated by twin 180-degree rear barn doors and dual sliding side doors. The cargo area offers a 5.8m³ load volume, with tie-down loops and LED interior lighting for improved functionality.

Pricing includes a six-year/90,000km Ford Optional Service Plan and a four-year/120,000km warranty. Additional service and maintenance plans are available for extended coverage.

Complementing the distinctive design package on the Transit Custom Sport is an extensive suite of safety features, including ABS, Electronic Stability Programme, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Aid, and Blind Spot Monitoring. The van is also equipped with six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. The FordPass Connect modem allows for remote vehicle monitoring via the FordPass app.
