The Valhalla will serve as Aston Martin’s inaugural series-production mid-engine supercar. Employing all sorts of trickery for the most effective and potent propulsion, under the rear-cited engine cover is a plug-in hybrid system that combines a bespoke 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 engine with three electric motors. This configuration delivers a total output of approximately 794 kW and 1 100 N.m of torque. Performance projections indicate an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. The vehicle also offers a dedicated electric driving mode from the electrified system.

During testing phases at the Spanish based proving ground of IDIADA, Aston Martin engineers are said to have focused testing for steering precision, active aerodynamics, and thermal performance of the braking system. Simultaneously, UK road tests concentrated on refining damper calibration to ensure optimal ride quality. Aston Martin brought in the big guns with three-time Le Mans class winner and Aston Martin development driver, Darren Turner to contribute in improving these areas of the Valhalla.

Simon Newton, Aston Martin’s Director of Vehicle Performance and Attributes, highlighted the engineering challenges and achievements: “With a combination of 794 kW and 1 100 N.m via the hybrid powertrain, extreme performance is a given. To harness and refine the power to deliver an exceptional supercar experience on both road and track has meant tireless work has gone into the integration of active aerodynamics and integrated control systems.”

The Valhalla’s design incorporates contemporary features such as active aerodynamics, a carbon-fibre structure, and an all-new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated e-motor and electronic rear differential. The vehicle is projected to generate over 600 kg of downforce at 240 km/h! The British automaker states that this hardware combined with methodologies and technologies derived from Aston Martin’s Formula One involvement, aim to set new standards in the supercar segment.
