The February 2025 Naamsa sales figures are in, and we’re diving straight into the bakkie segment. Let’s see which five models dominated and how they stack up against January’s figures.

Top 5 Best Selling Bakkies in SA

  1. Toyota Hilux – 2 683
  2. Ford Ranger – 2 168
  3. Isuzu D-Max – 1 924
  4. Mahindra Pik Up – 763
  5. Toyota Land Cruiser 79 – 534

Overall, most bakkie models saw positive growth in February 2025. In terms of outright sales, in the second month of 2025 the Toyota Hilux once again led the segment with 2 683 units sold, an increase of 126 units compared to January 2025’s 2 557 units. The Ford Ranger also performed well, with 2 168 new Rangers (up 310 units) finding homes in February 2025. The Isuzu D-Max had a strong showing, too; selling 1 924 units, up 511 units from the 1 413 sold at the start of the year.

In contrast, the Mahindra Pik Up saw a slight decline, with its registered 763 units sold signifying a slight decrease (down 38 units) from January’s 801 units. Sales of the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 increased by three units to 534.

Naamsa notes that domestic sales of new light commercial vehicles (LCVs), including bakkies and mini-buses, totalled 11 802 units in February 2025. This represented a decline of 1 504 units, or 11.3%, compared to the 13 306 units sold in the same month the previous year.
