Updated Volkswagen Crafter – Pricing and Specs

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched the updated Crafter 50 in South Africa, bringing a refreshed design and enhanced features to the large-van segment. Following its debut at the Volkswagen Group Africa Indaba, the Crafter 50 range now offers significant cargo capacity and modern technology.

The updated Crafter 50 is available in extra-long wheelbase configuration, measuring 4 490 mm, and employs rear-wheel drive. Customers can choose between a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle boasts a 5-tonne maximum gross vehicle weight (GVW) and offers standard high roof or super high roof options. Cargo volume reaches up to 17.5 m3, with a maximum cargo space height of 2 096 mm. Power comes from a new 2.0 BiTDI engine, producing 120 kW. The Crafter 50 range is available in both Panel Van and Bus Conversion Ready configurations.

Notably, the 8-speed automatic transmission is a new addition to the Crafter line-up. Standard features include air conditioning, a 10.3-inch infotainment console with radio and Bluetooth connectivity, and wireless charging. A 12-inch digital instrument cluster, electronic parking brake, multifunction steering wheel and keyless start are also included.
