The Fit hasn’t been on the market for long, but Honda has already given it a facelift, which sees the hatchback now outfitted with a split headlight design. Produced under the GAC-Honda joint venture, the latest iteration of the Fit (formerly known as Jazz in South Africa) has surfaced via China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Debuting in 2019, the model shares the same platform as the global HR-V and goes up against the Polo in the local market.

Unlike the soft, friendly styling we’re used to seeing on the pre-facelift model, this new Chinese-spec Fit gets a sharp and contemporary front fascia. The side profile remains recognisable from before, and the rear gets a slight tweak in the form of a black plastic bumper extension with a faux diffuser. No interior images have surfaced, but speculation suggests a more digitised cockpit with larger screens.

Dimensionally, the facelifted model is fractionally longer than the outgoing version, now measuring 4 196 mm. The works under the bonnet remain largely unchanged remains unchanged with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder paired with a CVT, sending 90 kW to the front wheels. This is fractionally more than what can be expected locally.

This facelift is separate from the version sold in other parts of the world, including South Africa, which received its own mild styling updates in 2022. Since it is the joint venture with Chinese GAC, local iterations are not expected to get this styling either.
