Alfa Romeo’s next-generation Stelvio is beginning to take shape. Teasers, spy shots and now renderings paint give a good idea of what the SUV will eventually look like when it hits showroom floors towards the end of the decade. In terms of styling, the renderings published on Kolesa.ru demonstrate a far more contemporary, svelte SUV. They allude to a sleeker, coupe-like silhouette with a sloping roofline and a short, upright tail. A distinctive triangular LED light signature spans the rear, integrated into a darkened fascia that gives the SUV a modern edge. Up front, Alfa Romeo’s familiar trilobo grille is expected to be reinterpreted, flanked by slim LED headlights and a likely closed-off grille, typical of EVs. The overall look hints at athleticism and futuristic minimalism, in line with the brand’s sporty DNA.

Underpinning the new Stelvio is the Stellantis STLA Large platform, which supports multiple electrified drivetrains. Initially expected to be EV only, Alfa Romeo head honcho Santo Ficili has confirmed that the platform for both the Giulia and Stelvio will support hybrid powertrains too. Unlikely to be the most popular of the lot, it is reported that the EV Stelvio will come with battery capacities ranging from 75 to 118 kWh, and Alfa Romeo is targeting a driving range of up to 800 km, depending on specification. While the focus is clearly on EVs, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are reportedly being considered for select markets and will likely be the choice of petrolheads wanting to trade in their current Stelvio.

Despite the move into electrification, performance will be a mantle of the SUV with a new Quadrifoglio range-topper on the cards. Power and specification are all hearsay for now, but it could push out upwards of 700 kW. That would put it in hypercar territory, making it the most powerful Alfa Romeo road car ever. Paired with the STLA platform’s all-wheel drive capabilities, it could be quite the potent arrival in the segment.
Production of the new Stelvio will take place at Alfa’s Cassino plant in Italy, with the official reveal expected in the second quarter of 2025. Sales will follow later in the year…
