Paying homage to the sought-after Mustang Boss 302, this 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof, finished in Bright Cold Metallic from the factory, was originally configured in 1969 and employed the former Blue Oval muscle car’s 302 V8 engine and a three-speed manual transmission.

However, the standard motor and gearbox were ditched in favour of a 347 V8 unit, which reportedly produces a peak power output of 331 kW, and a Tremec five-speed manual cog swapper. Noteworthy, the newly fitted engine features electronic fuel injection. RideTech coilover suspension and Wildwood disc brakes, fore and aft, are also present, with the latter items sited behind 17-inch American Racing Magnum 500 alloy wheels.

Upholstered in period-correct Medium Ginder vinyl trim, the interior has also received a few upgrades, including the fitment of modern convenience items such as digital instrumentation, incorporated into the original instrument binnacle, and Bluetooth connectivity.

This example, chassis no. 0T02F108400, is expected to fetch between $90 000 and $100 000, which, at the current Rand-Dollar exchange rate translates to R1 606 583.42 and R1 785 115, respectively. The current bid on RM Sotheby’s’ website is R803 320.39. Though, with several days left before the hammer finally falls, a fair bet would be that this classic Ford will fetch more.
