While the original 8C was designed in-house at Alfa Romeo by Wolfgang Egger and Daniele Gaglione, Zagato has reinterpreted the carbon fibre-bodied coupé with completely new exterior panels. The goal, according to the Milan-based firm, was to complete its modern reinterpretations of iconic Alfa Romeos. This version is said to “fuse classic GT elegance with aerodynamic elements inspired by motorsport”.
The most prominent revision is its Doppia Coda (Italian Double Tail) rear design, which combines a rounded shape with the sharp-edged Kamm-tail design, also known as Coda Tronca. This fusion aims to balance the proportions of a grand tourer with the performance-focused profile of a racing car.

Zagato president Andrea Zagato explained that, unlike the firm’s recent AGTZ Twin Tail project, which featured interchangeable rear sections, the DoppiaCoda permanently blends both tail styles into one unified form. Chief designer Norihiko Harada added that the truncated tail was adjusted for visual lightness to suit the 8C’s grand-touring character.
Although Zagato hasn’t confirmed mechanical details, it’s expected the car retains the Ferrari-built 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V8, which produces 331 kW and 480 N.m in the original car, which was limited to just 500 coupés and 329 Spiders between 2007 and 2010. The 8C DoppiaCoda remains a one-off and will go straight into the hands of its owner following its debut at Villa d’Este.
