The Concept AMG GT XX ushers in “revolutionary” new drivetrain technology for Mercedes-AMG, the Affalterbach automaker says. Underpinned by the company’s completely new AMG.EA platform, the design study features a single axial flux motor at the front and a duo of these “high-performance” electric motors at the rear. The trio of axial flux units produces a eye-widening combined system output of 1 000 kW, delivered to the road through all four wheels.

While the firm hasn’t yet released just how quick the Concept AMG GT XX will complete the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint, it has revealed the performance-focused all-electric four-door’s top speed: “more than” 360 km/h.

The axial flux motors are fed by a specially developed “high-voltage” battery. The 800 V unit is capable of receiving up to 850 kW at a DC fast charging station. Mercedes-AMG has yet to announce the operating range; however, it has said that it takes only five minutes to gain “approximately” 400 km of range.

The Concept AMG GT XX measures 5 204 mm long, front to rear, 1 945 mm wide and 1 317 mm in height. Thanks to its svelte design and selection of active aerodynamic systems, including the fitment of moving aero blades on the wheels, the four-door grand tourer has a drag coefficient of only 0.198.

Said Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Head of Business Units Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Mercedes-Maybach:

“The Concept AMG GT XX is the next milestone in the history of AMG and forges a whole new dimension of performance. We’re bringing groundbreaking technology that redefines high performance. And the best thing is that this car is a true AMG with every fibre of its being.
