2025 Classic Car Show in Johannesburg Gears Up to Celebrate V8 Power

On 6 July 2025, a host of enthusiasts will come together at the Nasrec Grounds in Johannesburg to showcase their much-loved classic cars. Here’s what you can expect from this year’s The Classic Car Show.

Since 2012, The Classic Car Show has been one of the ideal events for classic-car enthusiasts to get up close with a selection of sought-after classics. And the 2025 instalment promises to be a “hotbed” of V8 muscle cars and “interesting” old-timers.

Traditionally the focal point of this event, organiser Paulo Calisto says the spirit of V8 muscle will be very much alive at the 13th rendition of The Classic Car Show, with a “mouth-watering” selection expected for Sunday, 6 July. However, V8-powered classics reigning from the ’States won’t be the only cars on display.

Early 1980s Ford Escorts, in 1 600 Sport and RS2000 form, will also be present and, as we’ve come to expect from the event, an array of European and British classics. The former includes DKWs, 1950s and ’60s Peugeots and Renaults, Alfa Romeos and late-1970s versions of Volkswagen’s MkI Golf, a namesake that celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, and original Citi Golfs. “Relatively new” examples of the Porsche’s iconic 911 will also be admitted to the event “because of their obvious interest-factor”.

Classic-car owners and a single accompanying passenger will be admitted free of charge at the Nasrec Grounds from 7 am on the day of the event, with all classics scheduled to be on display by 8 am. The public will be admitted from 9 am. Tickets are available from Computicket, and priced at R100 for adults and R40 for kids under the age of 12. Tickets, priced at R150 and R50 for the former and latter, will also be available at the gate.

However, if you’re an enthusiast living in the Western Cape and can’t quite make the Gauteng-based event, but want to indulge in a day of classic cars and motorcycles, the Eden Classic Car and Motorcycle Show takes place on 6 July in Sedgefield.
