An even more hardcore AMG GT? It seems likely. Mercedes-AMG has released several teaser images of a high-performance concept car – the AMG Concept GT Track Sport – that hint that such a model could be set for production. “Mercedes-AMG opens another exciting chapter in its performance history and hints with the Concept AMG GT Track Sport that the GT family is not yet complete,” the Affalterbach automaker says.

Billed as an uncompromising concept car designed for absolute dynamic performance, the German marque says it will set new standards in its segment and record times. Little detail about the concept model (or the car it previews) has been revealed, however. Yet, a fair bet would be that it will be powered by the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 – the latter possibly incorporating some electric assistance.

As a reminder, Mercedes-AMG’s GT 63 S E Performance flagship is endowed with such a powertrain. Spearheading the AMG GT lineup, this model’s V8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) arrangement produces 600 kW and a whopping 1 420 N.m of torque, allowing for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h.

There’s also the not-for-South Africa AMG GT Pro, which goes without electric wizardry. This model, which we sampled for the January 2025 Performance issue of CAR magazine, “only” employs the carmaker’s V8 and produces 450 kW and 850 N.m.

But back to the teaser images. From what we can make out from the latter, the camouflaged concept features a unique front grille design, larger front splitter, and a massive rear wing. The high-performance design study also features what looks like a NACA duct next to the headlamp.

According to the firm, the AMG Concept GT Track Sport is in the final stages of development and will be seen tested on track soon. The official reveal date remains unconfirmed, however.
