Suzuki SA Teams Up With Orlando Pirates as Official Vehicle Partner

Suzuki South Africa has announced a two-year partnership with Orlando Pirates Football Club as this iconic South African football outfit’s official vehicle partner.

In April 2024, Suzuki South Africa was announced as the official vehicle partner of the Proteas Men’s and Proteas Women’s ODI cricket teams. Now, the local arm of the Japanese automaker has joined forces with Orlando Pirates Football Club as the official vehicle partner for this iconic South African football outfit,  The partnership also positions Suzuki South Africa as Official Premium Sleeve Partner of the Johannesburg-based team, which, as the former suggests, will sport Suzuki branding on the sleeves of their jerseys. Seen here, the Grand Vitara, Swift and Jimny are all dressed in Orlando Pirates branding, too.

The firm hopes to engage with local fans and support local sporting talent through the partnership with the Pirates. Suzuki South Africa’s General Manager of Auto Sales and Marketing, Henno Havenga, stated: “We are honoured to align with a club that shares our values of excellence, resilience and community. This partnership represents more than just a branding exercise – it’s about connecting with South Africans from all walks of life through the shared passion of football.”

Added Thandi Merafe, Media and PR Manager at Orlando Pirates F.C., “Our supporters are at the heart of everything we do, and partnerships like this help us move the club forward in ways that resonate beyond matchday. Suzuki is a brand that understands the importance of local connection and national pride – qualities that align closely with what it means to be part of the Orlando Pirates family.”

As a reminder, in addition to being the official vehicle partner to the Pirates and Cricket South Africa, Suzuki South Africa is the naming sponsor of the Griquas rugby team. And through these efforts, Suzuki South Africa continues with its aim to back the future of local sport, while connecting with communities nationwide.

Suzuki South Africa isn’t the only manufacturer supporting local sport, of course. To name but few, Toyota South Africa is the title sponsor of the Cheetahs rugby team and partner to the Kaizer Chiefs football team, the Orlando Pirates’ main rival; Isuzu South Africa was recently announced as the title sponsor of the Bulls Daisies women’s rugby team; and Hyundai South Africa is the official vehicle partner to the Junior Springboks, who claimed victory at the 2025 U20 World Rugby Championship.
