Top 10 Best-Selling Passenger Cars in South Africa — June 2025
There’s been a significant number of changes in the June 2025 chart of South Africa’s best-selling passenger cars. Here’s the breakdown.

South Africa’s new-car sales market continues to gain momentum as 2025 progresses, with many manufacturers seeing a steady rise in sales since the start of the new year. In June 2025, an estimated 32 570 new passenger cars were sold, signifying an overall increase of 828 units over May 2025 and healthy 21.7% increase over June 2024. Of the overall figure of new passenger cars sold in June 2025, the vehicle rental industry accounted for 10.7% of sales, as reported by naamsa.
In June 2024, Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) was once again South Africa’s best-selling car brand, with the locally-built Corolla Cross leading the charge for TSAM in the passenger-car segment.
In the sixth month of this year, our 2025 SUV Shootout runner-up bested the ever-popular Suzuki Swift for first place in the standings, followed by the Volkswagen Polo Vivo in second and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, which jumped from fifth to third position. The Swift placed fourth in June 2025, relegating the Hyundai Grand i10 to fifth, while the Haval Jolion climbed one position, to sixth. The Kia Sonet, which placed ninth in May 2025, dropped down to 12th, while the Fortuner and Ertiga made an appearance in eighth and tenth place, respectively.

- Toyota Corolla Cross — 2 132 units (up 503)
- Volkswagen Polo Vivo — 1 962 units (up 419)
- Chery Tiggo 4 Pro — 1 538 units (up 283)
- Suzuki Swift — 1 466 units (down 376)
- Hyundai Grand i10 — 1 301 units (down 49)
- Haval Jolion — 1 116 units (up 3)
- Suzuki Fronx — 1 112 units (down 107)
- Toyota Fortuner — 878 units (up 199)
- Toyota Starlet — 852 units (down 187)
- Suzuki Ertiga — 840 units (up 119)
So, who else missed out on making the top 10? Well, placing 11th, the Vitz just missed out by 46 units, the aforementioned Kia (735 units sold) by 105 units, and the Urban Cruiser (720 units sold) by 120 units.
