2025 Chery Tiggo 9 CSH: SA Price & Specs

Following the introduction of several new new-energy models, including the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH, to its lineup, Chery South Africa has now launched the Tiggo 9 on local shores.
Chery offers the Tiggo 9 CSH with the choice of two drivetrains: front-wheel and all-wheel, with both derivatives employing the automaker’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbopetrol-electric powertrain. Equipped with FWD, the Pinnacle variant produces 280 kW and 610 N.m of torque, while the all-paw Vanguard, which gains three electric motors, is endowed with 455 kW and 920 N.m.
Chery claims average fuel consumption figures of 1.5 and 1.4 L/100 km for the Pinnacle and Vanguard, respectively (when their battery packs are fully charged, or 5.5 and 6.2 L/100 km when the batteries are discharged). Speaking of the batteries, the Pinnacle’s 18.3 kWh item allows for a claimed EV-only operating range of 90 km, while the more powerful, Vanguard variant offers a claimed 160 km when its 34.4 kWh battery is replenished. Both models have a combined petrol-electric operating range of 1 400 km.

The plug-in hybrid Tiggo 9 is priced from R839 900 for the Pinnacle FWD model and R989 900 for the Vanguard AWD derivative.

The Tiggo 9 will also be available with a 2.0-litre petrol-only powertrain, which produces 187 kW and 390 N.m of torque. The four-cylinder turbopetrol unit is coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which sends drive to either the front wheels (in Pinnacle spec) or all four corners (in Vanguard trim). Chery claims average fuel consumption figures of 7.9 and 8.3 L/100 km for the FWD and AWD variants, respectively.
The Tiggo 9’s bodywork measures 4 810 mm in length and 1 925 mm in width, making it 85 mm longer and 65 mm wider than the Tiggo 8 CSH derivative. The firm’s new flagship seven-seater’s wheelbase is also longer – 2 800 mm versus the Tiggo 8 CSH’s 2 710 mm. Chery claims a luggage capacity of 448 litres behind the second-row of seats when the rearmost items are stowed.
