2025 VW Transporter in SA: Price & Specs
The seventh-generation Volkswagen Transporter has arrived in South Africa, with the German marque’s local arm revealing pricing and specs for the brand-new model lineup. See pricing below.

The latest iteration of the Volkswagen Transporter, which we sampled in Greece earlier in 2025, will be available locally from September 2025. Volkswagen’s seventh-generation Transporter shares its underpinnings with the Ford Tourneo, which we drove earlier this month.

Locally, the new Transporter Kombi is available in four flavours: Commerce, Life, Edition and range-topping 4Motion Style. The T7 features reworked front and rear bumpers, a T5-inspired grille and T6.1-style headlamps. Inside, the cabin features 12-inch digital instrumentation and a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The suite of standard driver assistance technologies include lane assist, front assist with automatic emergency braking, light assist, and dynamic road sign display. Keyless start and rain sensing wipers are also included in the package.
The 2.0 TDI is available in three states of tune: 81 kW, 110 kW and 125 kW. The flagship powertrain is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel producing 125 kW and 390 N.m of torque. Buyers have a choice between a six-speed manual and an eight-speed self-shifter.
The T7 Transporter offers improved load-hauling capabilities compared to its predecessor. The payload capacity has increased to 1.33 tonnes, while the towing capacity is an uprated 2.5 tonnes. The roof can now carry up to 170 kg, 20kg more than before.
