5 Most Affordable 4×4 Double-Cab Bakkies in South Africa
We have rounded up the five most affordable 4×4 double-cab bakkies available in South Africa in 2025. Here’s the list.
With their adventure-focused provisos, four-wheel-drive double-cab bakkies hold a special place in the South African market. However, many vehicles of this ilk have become quite expensive. So, we’ve rounded up the five least expensive 4×4 double-cab bakkies you can buy in South Africa as of August 2025.
5. GWM P-Series 2.0TD Double Cab SX 4×4 Manual – R499 950

If you can’t quite stretch to the P300 or P500 flagship, the latter of which is one of the most expensive bakkies in South Africa, for just under half-a-million Rand you can have the P-Series 2.0TD SX. Noteworthy, the fifth most affordable bakkie on this list is the most powerful, with this P-Series’ 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel unit, which is coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox, producing 120 kW and 400 N.m of torque. An eight-speed automatic variant of this GWM is available for R38 000 more.
4. Mahindra Pik Up 2.2CRDe Double Cab 4×4 S6 Karoo Manual – R475 449

The Mahindra Pik Up Karoo S6 forms a neat balance between rugged workhorse capability and leisure-oriented provisos. Although mechanically identical to the third most affordable bakkie on this list – the standard Pik Up S6 – the Karoo package gains several model-specific interior and exterior trim elements, and several off-road items. A six-speed automatic variant of this bakkie is available for R 506 749.
3. Mahindra Pik Up 2.2CRDe Double Cab 4×4 S6 Manual – R454 249

Like the Mahindra you just read about, the standard S6 employs a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged oil-burner, which churns out 103 kW and 320 N.m of torque. A six-speed manual drives the front and rear axle of the model featured here. Though, an automatic unit with the same number of cogs can be had for an additional R25 200.
2. JAC T8 2.0CTi Double Cab 4WD Lux – R449 900

Positioned between the T6 and T9, the JAC T8 is equipped with a 104 kW/320 N.m 2.0-litre turbodiesel four-pot and six-speed manual cog swapper – the only transmission option available for this four-wheel-drive derivative.
1. JAC T6 2.8TDi Double Cab 4WD Lux – R409 900

JAC’s entry-level 4×4 double cab tops the list of South Africa’s most affordable bakkies. While the T8 featured above employs a 2.0-litre oil-burner, the T6 is powered by a 2.8-litre unit producing 68 kW and 210 N.m of torque.
