In 2021, Ferrari announced the Daytona SP3 as the newest member of its vaunted Icona Series, a limited-production series blending advanced engineering with design rooted in the marque’s most celebrated racing cars. The car was limited to just 599 units, with each example spoken for by VIP clients even before production began.

Announced by auction house RM Sotheby’s ahead of the recent Monterey Car Week in the US, car number 599+1 was added to the production run by the brand’s Tailor Made team.

This unique SP3 features a striking two-tone exposed carbon fibre and Giallo Modena livery, complemented by glossy black carbon-composite elements on the front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser. A full-length logotype stretching from the front to the back of the car is a first for a Ferrari road car. The vehicle is equipped with forged diamond rims and brake callipers finished in Giallo Modena.

The interior features cutting-edge “Q-Cycle” fabric upholstery, developed from recycled tyres, and is accented by yellow seatbelts and Prancing Horse motifs. The instrument binnacle and steering column feature a checkered flag motif made from F1-sourced carbon fibre, and the Alcantara-covered steering wheel has F1-style paddle shifters.

As a reminder, the Ferrari Daytona SP3 is powered by a naturally aspirated mid-mounted 6.5-litre V12 producing a massive 618 kW. Ferrari claimed a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 2.85 seconds, with the 0–200 km/h dash covered in just 7.4 seconds.

Auctioned as part of a broad selection of sought-after cars featured at the annual Monterey Car Week in California, this Ferrari Daytona SP3 “Tailor Made” fetched $26 million (around R460 million). All proceeds from this sale benefited The Ferrari Foundation, a charity focused on future educational initiatives.
