As one of the marque’s most popular models, Mercedes-Benz have taken its next step in zero-emissions propulsion with the addition of the all-electric GLC. The GLC with EQ Technology (to use its full name) will be the first model powered by the German marque’s AI-driven MB.OS ‘superbrain’.

Spearheading the emissions-free GLC model range will be the 400 4Matic model, which features 800 V electric architecture with a 94 kWh lithium-ion battery and twin electric-motor setup, which produces a combined peak power output of 360 kW. The Stuttgart automaker claims an operating range if up to 713 km. A quartet of additional derivatives, including a GLC 300+, which will employ a single electric-motor setup, will be introduced at a later stage.

The GLC with EQ Technology introduces fresh exterior and interior styling to Mercedes-Benz’s best-selling SUV. New exterior design items include a redesigned front grille, replete with illumination, and a revised taillamp array. New fore and aft lighting signatures are also present.

The interior plays host to the company’s new, 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which incorporates the digital instrumentation, touchscreen infotainment, and front passenger display. The battery-electric GLC also features Ambient lighting and a Sky Control panoramic roof. The GLC with EQ Technology also adopts a raft of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Fitted with the firm’s MB.DRIVE setup, the newcomer boasts up to ten external cameras, five radar sensors and twelve ultrasonic sensors.

The GLC with EQ Technology will be launched globally in 2026, though when Mercedes-Benz’s rival to the new BMW iX3, which will launch in South Africa in 2026, will arrive on our shores remains unconfirmed as of yet.
