In July 2025, Bentley previewed what its all-electric future could look like, with the British luxury marque unveiling the EXP 15 Concept. Now, the firm has transformed its historic, 85-year-old Pyms Lane factory in Crewe, England for the era of electrification.

Designed to shape the marque’s next generation of vehicles, the facility marks a crucial step in the automaker’s plan to achieve a fully electric lineup by 2035. Bentley has committed to introducing a new hybrid or electric model every year until then. The investment forms part of the brand’s broader programme to modernise facilities and advance product development.

Spanning 13 000 m² across two floors, the centre houses a prototype workshop, materials development, and a dedicated software department. The facility will be used for training, testing, and launch preparation for software, electrical, digital, and high-voltage systems.

Many of these departments have been relocated from Building A1, the oldest structure at the Pyms Lane site. The historic building is now being converted into the assembly line for Bentley’s first battery-electric vehicles, with production scheduled to begin in 2027.

Said Dr Matthias Rabe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for R&D, “Our Beyond100+ strategy maps out a fundamental programme of change, using what is known now and adapting that vision as we adopt yet-to-be-discovered technologies in the future. We are working on the next generation of electrified driving, digitally connected cars, with driving autonomy that will achieve the highest levels of luxury mobility.”

“This new Engineering Technical Centre is a key building block for the successful delivery of this strategy and helps enable engineering concepts to become reality at the heart of development and integration, as we look to continue to create the most luxurious and performance-oriented vehicles on the market,” Rabe added.

Bentley says its Beyond100+ strategy is focused on reinventing the entire product line to offer a fully electric model lineup. The new Engineering Technical Centre is a cornerstone of this vision, complemented by further facilities, including the recently opened Design Studio, along with a new Paint Shop and Integrated Logistics Centre now under construction.
