In 2023, the inaugural Jimny Gathering, held in Clarens in the Free State, saw a raft of Suzuki Jimnys from across South Africa gather to set a new Guinness World Record…for the most cars to switch on their headlamps simultaneously. With nearly 800 Jimnys taking part in this Guinness World Record attempt, Suzuki Auto South Africa secured its place in Guinness World Record history, with 787 (of the total 796) switching on their headlamps within the five-second window.
Now, the local arm of the Japanese automaker, along with a host of Jimnys, has once again made Guinness World Record history – this time for the most car doors closed simultaneously – at the second Jimny Gathering, which was held at Louvain Guest Farm in the Western Cape from 25-28 September, 2025.

To qualify as an official Guinness World Record, 250 vehicles were required, with at least one door of each participating vehicle closed within the five-second window following the starting signal. However, on 27 September, a whopping 1 127 Jimnys – attendees at the ready to close their doors as soon as the signal sounds – gathered to participate in this record attempt. The countdown began.
With the starting signal, audible thunks could be heard across the field as doors were slammed shut. In addition to the prerequisites mentioned above, the doors had to remain closed, and occupants inside their cars, for a brief moment for the record to count. Following the tally, Guinness World Records announced to much anticipation that a total number of 1 838 doors were closed, and Suzuki Auto South Africa has set a new Guinness World Record.
