We have rounded up the five best-selling Chinese passenger cars in South Africa in August 2025. See the list below.

In August 2025, naamsa reported 51 880 new vehicles were sold in South Africa – an 18.7% increase over August 2024’s sales. Of the total new-vehicle sales, an estimated 43 196 units sold were attributed to dealer sales, 6 266 to the rental industry, 1 215 to corporate fleets, and 1 203 to government sales.

The 36 914 new passenger-car sales in the eighth month of 2025 represented the highest since September 2024. Zooming in on this segment, we take a closer look at the five best-selling Chinese cars in South Africa.

5. Jetour Dashing – 495

Introduced to the local market in September 2024, the Dashing is the most popular of the two-strong Jetour model lineup. Last month, 495 units were sold, marking an increase of 58 units sold when compared to July.

4. Haval H6 511

Having undergone a significant facelift in June this year, the H6 is one of Haval’s most popular models, available as either a hybrid or purely petrol-powered variant. Despite recording 10 fewer sales compared to July, the H6 earned its spot as one of the best-selling Chinese cars in SA, with 511 units sold in August 2025.

3. Omoda C5/C5 X 811

Compared to July 2025, the combined sales of the C5 and C5 X slightly declined (down two units). The standard C5 garnered the most sales, registering 538 new units sold, while the X model accounted for 273 units of the total sales figure.

2. Haval Jolion 1 123

The Haval Jolion, which featured in our 2025 SUV Shootout, recorded a total of 1 123 new units sold in August 2025. This marks a 19-unit increase compared to the 1 102 units sold in July 2025. First introduced to the South African market in early 2021, the Jolion remains one of SA’s most popular Chinese cars.

Leading the charge is the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, which, despite experiencing a 265-unit decrease in sales compared to July, remains the top-selling Chinese car in SA. One of the best-selling passenger cars in SA in August 2025, the Tiggo 4 Pro fits into the sub-R300k compact SUV segment and therefore continues to appeal to budget-conscious buyers.
