As the first McLaren to be released exclusively in Japan, the 750S JC96 pays homage to the 1996 All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC). A not to the championship-winning #61 McLaren F1 GTR driven by John Neilsen and David Brabham, only 61 examples, in both Coupé and Spider body styles, of this limited edition will be made.

Four examples of the 750S JC96 will receive hand-painted ‘JC96 tribute livery’, modelled after the Team Goh F1 GTRs. The JC96 tribute livery comprises a ‘tiger stripe’ design, finished in Rocket Pink and Tarmac Grey paintwork, inspired by the F1 GTRs entered by McLaren and Team Goh.

The other 57 units will be offered in any of the paint colours offered with the 750S, or unique hues from McLaren Special Operations (MSO). Exterior details are applied to the front splitter, rear wing, and wing mirror housings. While more discreet, these details echo the ‘tiger stripe’ design and can be had in Memphis Red, Titanium Silver, Ice White and Graphite Grey.

An aggressive MSO high downforce kit (HDK) is included in the package, and while it also features on the “standard” hard-top derivative, it’s the first time it has been installed on a convertible McLaren 750S. The aerodynamic kit includes a revised front bumper, a larger gloss black carbon-fibre front splitter and a matching active rear wing. The rear also receives an underwing panel with gloss black louvres. According to McLaren, the HDK produces 10% more downforce compared to the “standard” 750S model.

A set of newly developed, ultra-lightweight, 15-spoke forged alloy wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres, makes its debut on this special-edition 750S. F1 gold red McLaren logo brake callipers and a central-exit stainless steel sports exhaust, finished in a natural titanium finish, further reference GTR componentry.

Other exclusive options available for the 750S JC96 include JC96 exterior details, carbon-fibre packs for the HDK, underbody, and front and rear louvres, along with unique JC96 750S side badges and JC96 branding on the rear wing surface. Bespoke painted centre caps and brake callipers can also be optioned through MSO.

The interior of the 750S JC96 can be had in full Alcantara upholstery in three colour combinations: carbon black on carbon black, carbon black with red contrast stitching, and dove grey with carbon black. The cabin also includes F1-inspired pedals, drive mode switches and a unique plaque. The aforementioned items are all finished in a gold hue. The headrests and armrests also receive JC96 embroidery.

Further personalisation can be had with the MSO interior livery theme pack, which adds the signature JC96 ‘tiger stripe’ livery pattern to various interior parts. The interior livery theme pack also includes a bespoke painted vehicle key. An optional McLaren track record titanium plaque in the “frunk” acknowledges McLaren’s defining championship and race wins and the racecars that achieved them.

The 750S JC96 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, internally known as the M840T. The mid-mounted eight-banger produces 559 kW and 800 N.m of torque, allowing for a claimed 0–100 km/h sprint time of 2.8 seconds.
