Mercedes-Benz South Africa has expanded its portfolio of electric vehicles (EVs) with the introduction of the EQV. Exclusively available in EQV 300 guise, the emissions-free people-mover is equipped with a single electric motor, fed by a 90 kWh battery pack, which the Stuttgart automaker says is good for an operating range of up to 363 km on a full charge.
The EQV 300 produces 150 kW and 365 N.m of torque, delivered to the road via the front wheels. According to the firm, the 2 748 kg (claimed) battery-powered bus completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 12.1 seconds, with the top speed rated at 158 km/h.

As a reminder, the V300d’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel powertrain churns out 174 kW and 500 N.m, exclusively sent to the rear axle via a nine-speed automatic transmission. Tipping the scales at a claimed 2 145 kg (639 kg less than the EQV 300), the V300d sprints to the three-figure marker from a standstill in 7.8 seconds (claimed), before topping out at 220 km/h. With a claimed average fuel consumption of 7.0 L/100 km, the diesel-powered V-Class offers a claimed driving range of 1 000 km from a full 70-litre tank of fuel.
