The Omoda C4 has made its global debut at the Chery User Summit in Wuhu, China. The Chinese automaker’s sharply styled new compact crossover is expected to add to its expanding global lineup as a new entry-level model.

The Omoda C4 sports the company’s “Cyber Mecha” design language. The exterior is defined by bolt-shaped front and rear lamps (also seen on the upcoming Omoda C7). Inside, the C4 features diamond-shaped buttons, a fighter pilot-style start button, and a dual display arrangement. The ‘standard’ C4 will be available in three trim levels, while the ‘ultra’ C4 adds a sporty exterior styling package.

Omoda C4 SA Launch Date

Omoda has told CAR Magazine that it plans to introduce the C4 to our market in the third quarter of 2026. Pricing for the local model range has yet to be confirmed, though the carmaker has told us the C4 will likely be more affordable than the C5, which is currently priced from R329 900.

The C4 will launch with naturally aspirated and turbocharged 1.5-litre engines, with new-energy variants in the form of HEV (traditional hybrid), PHEV (plug-in hybrid) and BEV (all-electric) scheduled to follow at a later stage. The non-electrified powertrains will be coupled with a dual-clutch transmission (DCT), while the hybrid variants will transfer power to the wheels via a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT)
