Volvo EX60 Electric SUV Confirmed for SA
Joining the likes of the EX30 and flagship EX90 all-electric SUVs, as well as an existing range of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models in Volvo’s extensive new-energy vehicle portfolio, the EX60 will make its global debut in January 2026, before arriving in our market later in the year.

The EX60 will be positioned between the XC40 Recharge compact SUV and the EX90 flagship, and will be underpinned by Volvo’s scalable SPA3 platform, which already underpins such all-electric products as the EX90 SUV and ES90 sedan.
Technical details are thin in the ground at the moment, but it’s believed that the firm’s upcoming emissions-free midsize SUV could be offered with a choice of single- and dual-motor electric powertrains, fed by a lithium-ion battery pack that offers an operating range in excess of 600 km.
When will the Volvo EX60 launch in SA?
According to Volvo’s local arm, the EX60 will arrive in our market in mid-to-late third quarter of 2026.
“The upcoming EX60 signals the next chapter in Volvo’s journey toward becoming a fully electric brand,” commented Grant Locke, Managing Director at VCSA (Volvo Cars South Africa). “As South Africa’s EV landscape continues to expand – with more charging points, growing awareness, and an appetite for premium electrification – the EX60 will arrive at the perfect time. It’s designed to bring our latest technology to a broader audience while delivering the range, confidence and everyday practicality that local drivers expect.”
