Revology, a Florida-based company that builds modernised versions of 1960s Mustangs and Shelby GTs, has revealed the Revology Boss 429. Based on a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429, the modernised muscle car retains the original’s classic aesthetic, while gaining several mechanical upgrades, sourced from modern Mustangs.
The original 7.0-litre V8 that came as standard on the 1969 Mustang Boss 429 has been replaced with a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 Coyote engine that produces 659 kW and 827 N.m, and is mated to a Tremec T-56 Magnum XL six-speed manual as standard. A Ford 10R80 10-speed automatic ‘box is available as an option.
The reimagined classic Mustang is built on an all-new steel body, which was assembled using automated welding processes, as well as extensive seam-welding and structural adhesives. The result of rebuilding the Boss 429 using modern production methods is a much stiffer and more robust platform compared to a standard 1969 Mustang. The electrical system has also been upgraded to meet modern OEM standards and improve reliability.
The modern Boss 429 is available in various exterior finishes, including Solid, Candy Apple Red, Raven Black, Meadowlark Yellow, and Royal Maroon, all applied using a Glasurit paint process. The Revology Boss 429 sits on a set of 17-inch Magnum 500 wheels, reminiscent of the standard items.
Modern convenience items include a 7.0-inch fold-away infotainment display, digital instrumentation, uprated climate control, an upgraded JBL sound system, and enhanced sound insulation.
Only 15 units will be made in 2025, with an additional 50 planned for 2026. Each example is priced from $395 000, or around R6.8 million at the current Rand-Dollar exchange rate.
