Following the launch of the C5 Luxury X and Elegance X derivatives earlier in 2025, Omoda South Africa has announced the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine has been cut from the C5 range. Subsequently, the C5 Street and Style (now Street+ and Style X) variants have been revised; bringing with them various mechanical and cosmetic changes, and a R10 000 price increase.

As mentioned, the C5 Street is replaced by the Street+, which ditches the previously employed 83 kW/138 N.m naturally aspirated engine for a turbocharged 1.5-litre unit producing a healthier 115 kW and 230 N.m. The turbocharged 1.5-litre mill in the Street+ is coupled with a CVT transmission. The package retains a MacPherson front/torsion beam rear suspension setup, as well as fore and aft disc brakes – the front units of the ventilated variety.

The C5 Style receives the “X” designation, joining the Luxury X and Elegance X, which joined us on our 2025 Compact SUV Shootout. The Style X retains its turbocharged 1.5-litre, though replaces the CVT gearbox with a dual-clutch transmission. Omoda claims this offers improved fuel consumption, from 7.4 to 6.9 L/100 km, as well as acceleration. The rear suspension has been upgraded as well, with the torsion beam setup replaced with multilink rear suspension.

The C5 Style X also receives updated exterior styling and LED headlamps. Inside, interior upgrades include a leather-trimmed steering wheel and sports seats, as well as increased boot capacity, from 378 to 442 litres. The latter increases to a claimed 1 149 litres when folding down the rear seatbacks. Both Street+ and Style X retain the standard tech and safety features offered with the outgoing models.

Updated Omoda C5 Price in SA

The updated Omoda C5 range is priced from R339 900. As standard, the package includes a a five-year/150 000 km warranty and a two-year/25 000 km service plan, while a ten-year/1 000 000 km engine warranty is available for the first owner.

  • Omoda C5 1.5T 230T Street+ – R339 900
  • Omoda C5 1.5T 230T Style X – R374 900
  • Omoda C5 1.5T 230T Luxury X – R425 900
  • Omoda C5 1.5T 230T Elegance X – R465 900

The decision to revise the C5 lineup, most notably ditching the naturally aspirated engine option, could make room in Omoda’s broader model lineup for the SA-bound C4, which will act as this Chery sub-brand’s entry-level offering in the local market when it arrives here in 2026.
