Ahead of its local introduction in 2026, Chery sub-brand iCAUR has released fresh details about the V27, the flagship model in the firm’s new-energy adventure-SUV portfolio. The V27 sports retro-inspired styling, while offering modern technology and powertrains.

Positioned above the V23, the V27 measures 4 899 mm long (or 5 045 mm with the tailgate-mounted spare), 1 976 mm in width, 1 894 in height, and 2 900 mm between the fore and aft axles. The exterior is defined by its old-school styling, a wide stance, and short front overhang. Up front, the V27 features eight interchangeable colour elements, while two tailgate designs are available for customers to choose from.

Inside, a large infotainment touchscreen takes pride of place on the dashboard. Digital instrumentation is also present. The package further features a dual panoramic sunroof, complete with a “floating” ‘Star Island’ ceiling and ambient lighting. iCAUR claims the glass stops 99.9% of UV rays. The driver’s seat is six-way electrically adjustable, as well as ventilated and heated. For added practicality, the interior boasts 50 storage spaces.

iCAUR V27 SA Launch Date

As highlighted in the December 2025 issue of CAR magazine, the V27, along with its V23 sibling, will arrive in SA from the second quarter of 2026.

The range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) is powered by a dual electric-motor setup, which is paired with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that acts as a generator for the 34.3 kWh battery pack. The system develops 339 kW – good for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 5.0 seconds. The all-wheel-drive REEV offers a claimed EV-only operating range of 156 km and a combined range of over 1 000 km.
